In February 2004, Jessica decided to join the Hospitality Club with her free accommodation community OneNightStay.de, which she had been building for one year. We are happy to have her and her members onboard! We have a lot of respect for this step, since it is never easy to give up an online-baby. We are even more happy to welcome her as a new volunteer for the club. Together, we will make the idea of hospitality exchange known to the world!
We will keep the
original OneNightStay pages on our server for eternity to show our appreciation of Jessica's work. Here is the message Jessica sent to her members:
Subject: new home for onenightstay Date: 02.02.04 22:36 Dear OneNightStay members,
Believe me it's not an easy decision. As the initiator of the project, I've certainly invested time and energy in it. Within one year we already have over 800 members. There are so much to be done to improve the site. Unfortunately I have difficulty finding a volunteer programmer.
But I believe it's the right decision. I'm not closing this project. I am just moving to another place, a better place. A few weeks ago, I got to know this website (
www.hospitalityclub.org ) that practises exactly the same idea as OneNightStay. (Great minds think alike, ist't it? :-) Only they started two years earlier, are better structured, with more volunteers on the project and better yet, they already have over 8,000 members. We all know that this concept works better with a BIG network.
Of course I am not going to transfer to them your contact information. I have no right to do so. But I do hope that you will take a few minutes to get to know the Hospitality Club. If you like there (I can't see any reasons why not:-), join them. Well actually I should now say, join us, since I will continue to work on my ideas there too. The Hospitality Club is already looking forward to welcoming you on board.
With quite a few of you I have exchanged E-mails. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Gene, thank you for your donation, I keep the check as a souvenior.
I hope you will agree that I find a better home for us and wish to see every one of you there again.
